Ingredients

  • 2 apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp honey optional
  • ½ tsp lemon zest
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp salted butter
  • ½ cup regular rolled oats
  • cup walnuts chopped
  • ¼ cup dried cranberries or raisins chopped
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar or less
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
For toppings:
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel syrup optional
For quick and easy caramel syrup ingredients:
  • 3 to 4 caramel candy
  • 1 ½ tbsp milk

Equipment

  • apple slicer
  • ramekins

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. In a small pan melt butter until browned.
  2. Peel the apples. Use an apple slicer to core and slice the apples.
  3. In a medium-size bowl toss the sliced apples with the maple syrup, honey, lemon zest, and pure vanilla extract. Scoop about 1/2 cup in each ramekin and place on a baking sheet.
  4. In a separate bowl add the last 6 ingredients and the browned melted butter. Mix until well combined. Divide into 4 and add on top of the apple mixture.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for about 25 to 30 minutes.
  6. For easy caramel syrup. In a small bowl with the caramel candy add milk. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir and microwave for another 30 seconds (depends on your microwave).
  7. Add vanilla ice cream on top of the warm apple crisp, then drizzle with caramel syrup.

Notes

For easy cleaning line the baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. In case the apple mixture bubbles and overflows from the ramekins.
