Tuna Salad Sandwich

This tuna salad recipe is delicious, with a tangy taste from freshly squeezed lemon. You can serve it on bread or pita with lettuce and sliced of cucumbers. You can also serve it just a tuna salad on a bed of lettuce and add more celery and chopped cucumbers, garnish with fresh chopped parsley.

How to drain the tuna oil or water in a can?

Use a can opener and open completely the top can of tuna. Carefully press the top tin lid of the can and tilt to drain the oil or water in the can. Use a spatula to lift and remove the lid ( do not use your fingers to lift the sharp tin lid ).

What is the shelf life of tuna salad or how long it last?

If stored properly in the refrigerator, it will last 3 to 5 days.

Ingredients

  • 240 g tuna 2 cans drained
  • 1 stalk celery finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped red onion or shallot
  • 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish

Lemony Mayo Dressing

  • 2 tbsp mayo
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard or prepared mustard
  • 1 tsp sugar optional or to taste
  • ½ tsp salt or to taste
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper or to taste

Instructions

  • In a medium-size bowl add all the ingredients and mix until well blended.
  • Serve with lettuce and sliced cucumbers on any bread you preferred.
